What is Autism?

Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech, and nonverbal communication.

Research shows that early intervention is essential to promoting positive outcomes for children diagnosed with autism. The earlier therapy begins, the more effective it will be.

The Centers for Disease Control prevalence shows that autism affects an estimated 1 in 44 children in the United States today.

Signs of Autism?

The early signs of autism vary widely. Some infants show hints in their first months. In others, behaviors become obvious as late as age 2 or 3.

Early professional evaluation for autism is crucial.  Not all children with autism show all the signs.

If your child exhibits any signs of Autism, ask your pediatrician or family doctor for an evaluation.
